Natural Grocers began in 1955 when Margaret and Philip Isely, young parents in Colorado, turned a personal health journey into a mission. After the birth of their second child, Margaret became ill. When conventional medicine couldn’t help, she restored her health through nutrition education, nutrient-dense, natural foods, and dietary supplements. Inspired by her recovery, the couple borrowed $200 for gas money and started going door-to-door, sharing books, samples of whole grain bread, and knowledge about the power of real food.
Their passion grew into a business rooted in natural and organic foods, nutrition education, and making healthy living affordable for all. Today, Natural Grocers has expanded to over 169 stores in 21 states, remaining true to its Five Founding Principles. They continue to empower communities with quality products at “Always Affordable” prices. Since 2016, Natural Grocers has been serving Clive citizens and those from surrounding areas. They joined the Clive Chamber of Commerce to take the next step in becoming more involved and connected with the local community.
